Every Marivida Designs piece is created with durability, comfort, and everyday wear in mind. I choose materials that are long-lasting, low-maintenance, and suited to real life — including salt air, sunshine, and movement.

What we use:

PVD Stainless Steel

Most of our metal components are made from PVD-coated stainless steel.

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is a modern coating process that bonds colour to the surface of stainless steel at a molecular level. This results in a finish that is significantly more durable than standard plating.

• Highly resistant to tarnishing and corrosion.
• Long-lasting colour that won’t easily fade or flake.

Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater pearls are used for their soft lustre and organic shape. No two pearls are ever identical, which means every piece has its own quiet individuality.

Pearls are more delicate than other materials and benefit from gentle care, especially when exposed to saltwater or chemicals.

Natural Stones & Gemstones

Natural stones and gemstone beads are used for their colour, texture, and organic variation. Formed naturally within the earth, each stone carries its own unique markings and character. While these beads are not individually certified and may come from a range of global sources, we choose them for their durability and beauty, embracing the natural differences that make every piece unique.

Shell & Mother of Pearl Beads

Shell and mother of pearl beads are valued for their soft iridescence and natural connection to the ocean. Derived from natural shell materials, they carry subtle variations in colour, texture, and sheen, making each piece feel organic and individual. As natural materials, their exact origin can vary, but they are chosen for their beauty, durability, and the way they reflect light and movement in our designs.

Many of our shell beads are thoughtfully reclaimed from op shops and vintage jewellery, giving existing materials a second life.

Glass Beads 

Glass beads are used for their colour consistency, durability, and ability to hold vibrant finishes over time. We work with high-quality glass beads, including those from Toho Beads, known for their precision, smooth finish, and reliable quality.

Glass allows for creative freedom and long-lasting colour without relying on mined materials, making it a practical and enduring choice for everyday jewellery.
